Description
This workshop is about taking a proactive approach to career planning and development. It will familiarize you with strategies for exploring your career options in the non-academic labour market, and it will allow you to deepen your understanding of your skill set and your job-related wishes and needs.
Topics covered include:
- Research careers vs. careers in the non-academic labour market: commonalities and differences
- My professional and personal competencies: the basis for finding suitable positions
- Typical, and less typical, non-academic jobs and career paths for PhDs and postdocs
- Strategies, methods and tools for finding suitable positions
- Project management: reflecting upon my career goals and planning my next steps
In addition, there is room for additional questions and concerns you may have.
Trainer: As a trainer and coach for the Karriereberatung für Akademiker*innen (www.kabeak.de), Dr. Matthias Zach counsels researchers and scientists on all relevant aspects of their careers.
